Forgotten Lore: Tadeusz Borowski

This week on my Youtube series Forgotten Lore

A five minute discussion of This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen by concentration camp survivor Tadeusz Borowski (a Polish writer, who was born in 1922 and died in 1951). This is a collection of short stories based on Borowski’s time as a prisoner at Auschwitz (a German Nazi concentration and extermination camp in occupied Poland). Borowski’s bleak look at the trauma of the camps ends with a story called “The World of Stone”, which is almost more of a Ligottiesque cosmic horror tale. Thus, Borowski’s work can be thought of as a “Rosetta Stone” of dark fiction, in which we see the connection between trauma, dissociation, and cosmic horror.
